“Sikhs are United States’s exemplary community” so said 15 of the elected officials at the Capitol Hill, the American political nerve center.
A gathering of 250 Sikhs from all over the United States was applauded by 15 congressional leaders from both parties. This event was organized by the Sikh Council On Religion and Education (SCORE) marking the 550th birth-anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and to honor 50 prominent Sikhs in USA.
A book, highlighting the contributions of 50 Sikhs, was released and the author of this book, Dr. Prabhleen Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala, presented the book to each of the US Representatives.
Dr. Rajwant Singh, National Sikh Campaign’s Senior Advisor and President of EcoSikh introduced each of the congressional leaders as they came to speak.
Congressman Ami Bera, Congressman Greg Stanton, Congressman John Garamendi, Congresswomen Haley Stevens, Congressman John Garamendi, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorti, Congressman Ro Khanna, Congressman Jayapal, Congressman Jim Costa, Congress Peter King, Congressman Suozzi, Congressman Jerry McNerney, Congresswomen Judy Chu came to speak at the occasion.
